Inspiration to start a National CASA Program began when Seattle Juvenile Court Judge David W. Soukup in 1976 had insufficient information to make a life-changing decision for a 3-year-old who had suffered from child abuse. This is where the idea originated from: These children who had suffered from abuse and neglect, needed trained volunteers to speak on the child’s behalf.
Our Story
Lookout Mountain CASA, Inc. is a non-profit organization that represent children who are in foster care in Catoosa, Chattooga, Dade, and Walker Counties. We have a Board of Directors which consist of members from each of our counties served. Lookout Mountain has an Executive Director and Volunteer Coordinator to oversee the daily operations of Lookout Mountain CASA, Inc.
Lookout Mountain CASA, Inc. is one of many CASA organizations in the State of Georgia representing abused and neglected children in Catoosa, Chattooga, Dade, and Walker counties. There are approximately 226 children in foster care in the 4 counties served. Currently we have 23 CASA volunteers in the 4 counties. We operate on a small budget consisting of state grants, fundraising, and donations. Lookout Mountain CASA, Inc. was established as a non-profit organization in 2015.
